About us

What we do & why it matters
Learning, without limits
The goal of Stars for Africa is to support local schools in and around Arusha, Tanzania, as well as in the Western Cape (South Africa) to ensure that all children in an increasing number of partner institutions are provided with everything necessary for them to learn and improve their skills without boundaries in a student-friendly and supportive environment. The exclusive purpose of this charity is to fight poverty and to provide economic and social development aid in Africa, which should lead to a process of sustainable economic activity and economic growth combined with structural and social change.
Stars for Africa's objectives
Our main objective is to improve the status-quo, one project at a time. We support our partner schools in Tanzania and South Africa in close coordination, providing aid where it is needed the most. Our previous projects are outlined in the country-specific sections of our website. In our upcoming projects section you can find out about our next steps & initiatives to support.
The team
Stars for Africa was founded by Daniel Guzmics, who holds the position of Executive Director, and Emil Nigmatullin, who serves as Head of Legal Affairs. Since the NGO was established in 2019, more than a dozen people have become permanent members of Stars for Africa, representing our organization in various roles.

Iris Hämmerle, our Head of Accounting & Finance, is responsible for the proper financial management of the association. She is supported by Asha Hossain. Matteo Hötzinger, Maximilian Kloucek, Laurenz Maletzky and Nessrin Younes are responsible for advertising and promotional activities (further information can be found in the FAQ). Anna Zeller serves the organisation as Head of Data Protection. In addition, Ainhoa Rodriguez has been appointed to contribute her expertise in the field of education to the association as well as to examine in detail the pedagogical added value of planned projects. Shemu Langei, Collin Sherriff and Linmari Matthee - acting as vicarious agents on behalf of the association - are tasked with the implementation of projects in Tanzania and South Africa.
Empowerment of Locals
Stars for Africa empowers its local volunteers to spend the donations where they are deemed most necessary, as they have the best overview of the most urgent demands on the spot. Donation allocation is decided by the permanent members of Stars for Africa based on suggestions by the local teams and in close coordination with the board of the association.

The principles of efficiency and economy are applied to every transaction. The supported projects' purpose and methodology is assessed and analyzed by the appointed educational expert and collaboration with the Accounting & Finance team to issue tips and guidance for future projects, assuring optimal use of the donated funds. Stars for Africa regularly informs its donors about the progress made in Tanzania and South Africa.
The goal of Stars for Africa is to support local schools in AFrica, ENSURING that all children in an increasing number of partner institutions are provided with everything necessary for them to learn and improve their skills without boundaries in a student-friendly and supportive environment.
